LACASA shelters victims’ pets, too!

Our Safe Pet Place allows victims of domestic violence to arrive at the Crisis Shelter with their family pet…or pets, as the case may be.

LACASA Center offers two cozy indoor kennel facilities that keep pets safe and sound.

Pets often are used to control victims. Abusers may threaten to harm or even kill a family pet to keep an intimate partner from leaving an abusive relationship.

We were the first shelter in Michigan, and still one of only a few in the nation, to provide this service.
